SUPERPOWER: Connecting like-minded people

Head of Marketing, Communications, and Outreach, Parkersburg Brewing Company and Founder and CEO, Phoenix Synergy Group
No matter where her career has taken her, Michelle Hopkins has been driven by a passion for serving others. “My focus has always centered around community involvement and giving back in West Virginia,” Hopkins says. While much of her professional career has been rooted in the health care industry, community service and volunteerism have remained central to her life.
Hopkins holds dual master’s degrees in public administration and social work, a combo that reflects her commitment to organizational leadership and direct service. “I pursued social work so I could help meet the unmet needs of those most vulnerable, and I complemented that with public administration to better lead programs and initiatives that can make lasting change.”
Most recently, Hopkins served as chief customer success officer at Moodr Health, a company focused on proactive behavioral health outreach to improve clinician efficiency and patient outcomes. Founded in 2023 at Intermed Labs, where she is also the vice president of Special Projects and Outreach, Moodr’s mission has been deeply personal for Hopkins, whose twin brother served in Iraq and later battled PTSD. A passionate advocate for suicide prevention, he tragically took his own life due to worsening symptoms.
“It’s been my priority to carry on his legacy, supporting veterans, advocating for suicide prevention, and raising awareness about the mental health challenges our service members face,” Hopkins says. Although she has stepped away from her executive role at Moodr, she continues to serve as an adviser to help Moodr grow its impact.
Additionally, Hopkins is a longtime community development leader through her involvement with Leadership Monongalia. She served as the organization’s retreat coordinator for six years before becoming co-director for five years, helping shape future community leaders across Monongalia County.
Today, Hopkins is channeling her energy into growing her consulting company, Phoenix Synergy Group. She also heads up marketing, outreach, and communications for Parkersburg Brewing Company, where her husband Jim is co-owner, co-founder, and CFO. Beyond her career, she is most proud of her role as a mom to two sons and three dogs, and she remains dedicated to her volunteer work as a board member of United Way.
