Over a decade ago, WV Living started the Wonder Women campaign to celebrate the extraordinary women who work to bring change and a brighter future to West Virginia and beyond. Year after year, we’ve honored their inspiring tales, superhuman strengths, and unflinching character.
But like superheroes, our Wonder Women are also human. They’re mothers and friends. Neighbors and coworkers. They’re in boardrooms and classrooms, home offices and home studios. They’re everyday citizens standing with you in line for coffee each morning and breathing an exhausted sigh of relief as they sink into bed each night. They have struggled to find purpose, faced unfathomable challenges, and known great loss. Still, they manage to come out the other side with hope in their hearts, fire under their feet, and smiles on their faces—and maybe a few battle scars. They are true West Virginians, on the ground seeing the gaps and places of greatest need and asking, "Why can’t I?"
Wild and wonderful are our 2025 Wonder Women—community pillars, fierce champions of change, and gentle hands extended when the world is at its hardest. May they always be, and may more follow.
