Reflecting on the Year
As the year winds down and the snow starts to dust our mountain peaks, I find myself reflecting—once again—on just how extraordinary West Virginia really is. Not just the postcard views or the wild, wonderful landscapes, but our people. The makers, dreamers, and business owners who pour their hearts into this place we call home.
Every year, our Best of West Virginia Awards remind me of what makes our state shine. These aren’t just names on a list—they’re the faces behind the counter at your favorite cafe, the craftspeople keeping traditions alive, the innkeepers who make strangers feel like family. This issue is our love letter to them. To all of this year’s winners and nominees—congratulations! You represent the best of who we are: hardworking, creative, and fiercely proud of our home.
