LeSage Natural bottles water and opportunity.
GREEN ACRES REGIONAL CENTER WAS FOUNDED IN LESAGE, IN CABELL COUNTY, in the late 1960s to develop and provide workshops and programs for special-needs members of the community. Over time, more and more opportunities opened up outside of Green Acres, and attendance began to drop. Then came the idea for LeSage Natural. “The water bottling came about as something to do. It was never somebody’s goal—nobody ever had that vision,” says Matt Muller, executive director of LeSage Natural. “But if we didn’t do anything, Green Acres was going to go away.”
Now, LeSage Natural is a proud employer of West Virginians with developmental disabilities, providing them with the training and support they need as a division of Green Acres Regional Center. “Most of our people are very high-functioning, but they may not have the freedom and opportunities elsewhere that they do here,” Muller says. “We don’t care what your so-called limitations are—we’ll find something for you to do.”
Beyond this, the LeSage water itself is also something great.
Coming from their very own deep, sealed wells—filtered, processed, and bottled on-site—LeSage Natural ranks consistently at the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting, winning both silver and gold awards in previous years.
“What we do isn’t just for us,” says Muller. “This isn’t just a Cabell County thing. It’s a West Virginia thing.” And this “West Virginia thing” is quickly growing. “It’s going to be a big year for us, I can just tell.”
