West Virginia native Dreama denver tells about life with her television icon husband in her new memoir.
Gilligan’s Dreams: The Other Side of the Island, written by Dreama Denver, chronicles her private life with her husband, Bob Denver—the face of one of America’s all-time favorite sitcoms, Gilligan’s Island.
Dreama Denver grew up in Bluefield with dreams of one day making it onto the big screen. Those dreams led her to Hollywood, where she was cast in a Woody Allen play called Play it Again, Sam, opposite her future husband, Bob Denver. The pair’s union would span almost 30 years, until Bob Denver’s death in 2005. In that time, they shared decades of love, laughter, and tears, experienced heartache and happiness, shared humor and adventure, and worked together to parent their severely autistic son, Colin. Denver discusses in her book how dreams really can come true, even for a small-town West Virginian.
