THE Banker with a Heart of Gold
Sharon Anderson, Williamstown
CEO at Williamstown Bank
CAREER
“I actually started as a part-time receptionist. I was able to go from receptionist in just a few months to doing all the balancing for the bank, and opportunities kept coming. I took every opportunity that was afforded me, and before I knew it, I was in a management position. Twenty years later, I’m still here at Williamstown Bank. Over the years, I’ve developed a passion for community banking.”
COMMUNITY
“The flagship memory was when the floods devastated West Virginia—the southern part of the state—back in 2016. Our team led an effort. What started as a donation drive became a statewide effort of community banks.”
CONTINUING BOTH
“We developed the Giving Cup, which is a 100 percent donation-based coffee shop in our new office location. Rather than purchasing your coffee, you make a donation to one of our three local nonprofits, which currently are the group of volunteer fire departments in the area, the local elementary school, and the Children’s Society of West Virginia. We wanted it to be a unique experience for our customers and a way to give back to our community.”
