THE PUBLIC SERVANT

Patsy Noland
Realtor, Samson Properties and Vice President, Jefferson County Convention & Visitors Bureau Board
SUPERPOWER: Having faith in others
Patsy Noland was born and raised in Jefferson County. She was married there, raised all three of her kids there, and passes her love of the area on to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “We had plenty of opportunities to move and live in different places, but there was really no other place I wanted to be,” Noland says.
Public service came naturally to Noland as she gave her focus to making Jefferson County the best it could be. After holding several positions over the years, she found herself working as a magistrate assistant and discovered she truly loved the work. So when the opportunity came in 1984, she ran for office and was elected as one of the first female Jefferson County magistrates in history. “It was such a great experience,” she says. “I really enjoyed that job—it was something I really believed in.”
After stepping down in 1994, Noland went on to serve a variety of positions in that realm—taking over as circuit clerk, running successfully for county commissioner, and serving on numerous committees. In 2020, she decided to step away from public service and use her real estate license to serve Jefferson County in a whole new way. In addition to finding homes for prospective residents in her beloved county, she sits on the Board of the Jefferson County CVB to make sure those new residents have a flourishing, exciting, and welcoming community to call home. She also serves on the Jefferson County Council on Aging and on the Board of Directors of Horses with Hearts, two organizations very close to her heart.
Noland never thought she would have landed in politics, but she is grateful for what the experience has brought her and what it has allowed her to do. “Jefferson County has been really good to me. I love my community and this county, and I always wanted to do what I could to make it better. With every position, I wanted it to be better than when I left.”
