Boone Memorial Health’s Walk with Ease
Boone Memorial Health’s Walk with Ease is a free, six-week, Arthritis Foundation–certified wellness initiative designed to help participants safely increase physical activity and manage joint health. The program is centered on walking and also incorporates stretching, strengthening, and health education, along with motivational strategies and personalized goal-setting. It’s free and open to anyone who is able to stand for at least 10 minutes. Mon Health Medical Center’s National Diabetes Prevention Program
This free, year-long lifestyle change program is designed for individuals who have prediabetes or those at high risk for developing Type 2 diabetes. Through a series of structured classes, participants receive education, coaching, and ongoing support to improve nutrition, increase physical activity, manage stress, and achieve modest weight loss. A CDC-recognized program, it emphasizes sustainable habit changes and has been shown to significantly reduce diabetes risk while promoting long-term health and wellness. Montgomery General Hospital’s Fitness Center
You don’t have to be a patient at or visitor to Montgomery General to make use of the hospital’s free fitness center. Located on the ground floor behind the Emergency Department, the center is outfitted with treadmills and ellipticals, free weights, recumbent bikes, and more, and it’s open to the public and hospital employees year ’round. Potomac Valley Hospital’s Living Well Chronic Disease Self-Management Program
WVU Medicine’s Potomac Valley Hospital Preventive Medicine offers the Living Well Chronic Disease Self-Management Program. This free, six-week interactive workshop helps people manage ongoing health conditions. St. Mary’s Medical Center, part of the Marshall Health Network, offers Navigating Grief, a free four-week support course for individuals who are coping with the loss of a loved one.
