Superpower: Helping people find their passion

Owner, Laurel Fork Farm and Laurel River Club Bed and Breakfast
With the 400-acre Laurel Fork Farm as their foundation, Marsha Waybright and her family proudly welcome guests from near and far to experience all West Virginia has to offer. And at the heart of the farm, she says, is the Laurel River Club Bed and Breakfast. Opened seven years ago, the historic home-turned-B&B has welcomed guests from 70 countries and 49 states to disconnect, join the daily activities of a working farm, and experience the true meaning of farm-to-table.
“Whatever is going on at the farm, you can join us,” Waybright says. “The Waybright family lives our lives doing what we love to do, and we allow people to step into that.” From birthing and butchering to harvesting and canning, she enjoys educating and introducing folks to a more natural way of life. Husband Kendall, son Collin, daughter-in-law Tiffany, oldest daughter Kendra, Kendra’s fiancé Timmy, and youngest daughter Josie each contribute to the farm in their own unique ways.
“My passion is teaching,” Waybright explains. “While raising my children and homeschooling them, it was important to me to allow them to follow their dreams and interests—to live a life they don’t need a vacation from.” In addition to the farm and B&B, Waybright has several other entrepreneurial endeavors, including Mama Bear Protection (offering concealed carry, self-defense, emergency first aid, and more) and the West Virginia School of Traditional Skills (offering hands-on learning experiences that honor Appalachian heritage). She is also an award-winning motivational speaker.
Among Waybright’s many accolades, she was honored as a West Virginia Woman in Agriculture by the West Virginia Department of Agriculture in 2023 and named Tucker Business Person of the Year in 2024. In addition, Laurel Fork Farm became the first Certified Agritourism Farm in West Virginia in 2025. Most recently, she was named a WVDNR 2026 Volunteer of the Year and a district supervisor for the Tygarts Valley Conservation District.
