The People Person
Linda Holmes, Huntington
Director, Development and Alumni Affairs, Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine
THE MOMENT IT CLICKED
“That portal probably opened when I made the decision to make a career change and transition from the athletic department to the alumni center for the university. My skills and personality were allowed to shine, and that was the best path for me personally and professionally and where I could make the biggest difference for Marshall.”
FULFILLMENT
“I’ve been an employee at Marshall University for 45 years. I am exactly where I should be right now. What does the next phase look like? I just feel like I have done my job here, and the biggest thrill is when someone tells me that I made a difference for them.”
THE PATH AHEAD
“You just have to put your toe in the water. You have to plan for the water to be cold or hot. Investigate what’s in front of you, and then be brave. You can’t change what happens if it’s not ideal. You have to learn from it, and move forward, and you can’t dwell on the what ifs. Learn from them.”
