Technicians who deliver home health equipment, physical therapists who get patients back on their feet, pharmacists and nurses and doctors and all of the administrators who make their jobs possible—living through a pandemic has given the staff of WV Living a fresh appreciation for the many thousands of people across the state who dedicate their days to keeping all of us healthy.
Kelly Amick
RN and Administrator and Director of Nursing
Nicholas County Health Department,
Summersville
When Kelly Amick felt ready to move on from nights as a medical surgical
nurse in 2018, she became administrator of her county health department—which, due to underfunding, includes the title Director of Nursing. Amick finds satisfaction in the many people the Health Department helps. Her leadership has been crucial to the department’s success during the pandemic, writes her nominator and board chair, Robin Brown. “Her day’s work has never ended since March 2020, and she continues to give 100 percent.”
