A family of women brings cannabis relief to West Virginians with Moon Flower Hemp.
Written by Tara Wine-Queen
FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS, sisters Macie and Riley Queen have been working alongside their mother, Jamie, to bring high-quality CBD products to the people of West Virginia. Based in Buckhannon, Moon Flower Hemp was born from a desire to maximize the human experience and help people deal with pain, anxiety, PTSD, cancer, and more. “We want West Virginians to have the accessibility to cannabis that they deserve,” Macie Queen says. “This is why we set out daily to educate about all things surrounding this plant. Education is key to ending this stigma.”
Moon Flower is also committed to a transparent seed-to-sale mission. “All our products are made in-house,” Riley Queen says. “Knowing where your products come from is extremely important. We make sure our customers see all portions of our process, from seed to extraction to product creation to shipment.”
The shop’s line includes cannabis-based products in several forms, including topical products that can be applied directly to the skin. The gummies are a fan favorite, with flavors like grape, strawberry lemonade, and orange cream all handmade by the sisters’ grandmother. The self-styled “Gummy Granny” cranks out roughly 40,000 gummies each month.
Although Moon Flower started out as an online store with a strong social media presence, the Queens purchased a storefront last year to create the perfect in-person experience for their customers. The women-owned business plans to have an educational grow room, a goods bar offering freshly baked cannabis-infused treats, a craft beer cooler, teas on tap, and more to complement the company’s impressive product line.
“Although we’ve loved operating online, we’re ready to have a location where we can meet with our customers and provide them with product advice and education,” Macie Queen says. “A storefront has been a dream of ours since the beginning, and the stars finally aligned to make it a reality.”
The Queens plan to open their Main Street storefront in Buckhannon next year. Until then, you can purchase their products on their website or through one of the dozens of retailers across the U.S. where Moon Flower products are available.
