Join the American Discovery 250 Relay this fall.

This November, West Virginians can become part of the coast-to-coast celebration of America’s 250th birthday—one mile at a time.
The American Discovery 250 Relay will carry a copy of the Declaration of Independence 6,800 miles from California to Delaware, following the American Discovery Trail through 15 states. Having started at the Golden Gate Bridge on July 4, the relay will enter West Virginia in early November and travel roughly 260 miles through West Union, Clarksburg, Philippi, Blackwater Falls, Keyser, and other communities before ending with a Thanksgiving celebration on the Atlantic coast.
This event is more than just a relay. It highlights the people, history, landscapes, and communities that make up the American story. Participants can walk, run, bike, or ride horseback for a mile, a day, or longer, while towns along the route will host events that welcome relayers and celebrate local history and the outdoors.
Whether you want to carry the baton, cheer from the sidelines, or simply follow the journey from home, everyone is invited to take part. Individuals, families, businesses, and community groups can all join the celebration as the relay makes its way through the Mountain State this fall.
