Teacher at Heart
Donna Hoylman Peduto
Executive Director, West Virginia Public Education Collaborative
Donna Hoylman Peduto is a Fairmont native who has admired teachers her entire life. In fact, seeing the difference teachers make in their students’ lives is what drove her to education. She taught for 22 years and still considers herself a teacher at heart, but she expanded beyond the classroom to train teachers, principals, and superintendents in technology. Leaving the classroom connected her with diverse leaders across the state.
Peduto ventured to the state Department of Education, became the leader of a K–12 Learning Laboratory in San Francisco, then brought her back here, to the state Board of Education, and now she is with the West Virginia Public Education Collaborative. The goal of the WVPEC is to connect K–12 with higher education, an endeavor that she considers extremely valuable. She’s also inspired about getting education, the workforce, businesses, and communities connected to forge new partnerships and initiatives in hopes of building “a stronger pipeline.”
Peduto is dedicated to the growth of the WVPEC and plans to continue following the examples of her late husband and her father as guiding stars to putting others first.
