Another excellent option is Orr’s Farm Market, offering a wide variety of produce, allowing you to take your pick of seasonal offerings. You may also check out Spring Valley Farm Market for freshly picked produce, plus jams, jellies, locally sourced meats, and other delicious treats. Stop by Kitchens Farm Market—named the WV Conservation Farm of the Year—for fresh produce and locally raised beef. If you’re interested in sampling West Virginia wines or trying some excellent local cuisine, be sure to visit Taylor’s Farm Market and Cider Press Restaurant. If local distilleries are more your style, Black Draft Distillery and Amani Brewing are must-visits while exploring Berkeley County.

Enjoy the summer with free concerts by talented regional bands at the Toni Saylor Summer Concert Series, hosted by Martinsburg–Berkeley County Park and Recreation. If you’re looking to escape from the daily grind, The Woods is the perfect destination for you, renowned for its breathtaking mountain views and offering two golf courses: an 18-hole championship course with mountain views and a mid-length course catering to all skill levels. Additionally, you can visit one of the local county parks, Poor House Farm Park, to indulge in frisbee golf, hiking, or biking along its many trails.

EXPLORE
As summer approaches, the historical homes and museums of Berkeley County open their doors to visitors. You can explore the Morgan Cabin, once the residence of Morgan Morgan, one of the first white settlers in what is now West Virginia and Berkeley County. Tour the Adam Stephen House and learn about the military career of a local colonel in the French and Indian War and major general in the Revolutionary War. Visit the Berkeley County Museum at Belle Boyd House to discover the history of the county and the famous Confederate spy Belle Boyd. Don’t forget to check out the Martinsburg Roundhouse, which dates back to the 1840s and was the site of the first labor strike in America. Suppose you’re interested in bird watching or exploring natural preserves. In that case, we recommend visiting Stauffer’s Marsh, a 46-acre marsh preserve, or Yankauer Nature Preserve. This 104-acre wildlife area offers stunning views of the Potomac River and is known for its summer wildflower walks.
HEAD OUTSIDE
Berkeley County offers a variety of outdoor activities suitable for all experience levels. With multiple public parks, hiking trails, and walking trails, you can enjoy anything from a picnic with your family to a multi-day hiking and camping adventure. Explore the Tuscarora Trail, a long spur off the Appalachian Trail covering 33 miles. A substantial portion of it goes through the 23,000-acre Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management Area, where you will find Sleepy Creek Lake, a 205-acre impoundment surrounded by rolling hills, perfect for a day on the water. Canoe or kayak, fish by the lake shores, or enjoy the incredible views while being greeted by beavers, otters, or soaring bald eagles.
