MAYOR
JOHNBOY PALMER, MONONGAH
Third-generation mayor of Monongah JohnBoy Palmer is known as hands-on. Infrastructure improvements are among the causes he has championed since first elected in 2019. Palmer persuaded Consol Energy to donate the community ballfield to the town so the county could fund needed repairs. And, under his watch, the bell memorializing the 1907 Monongah Mine Disaster was repaired. Palmer has been spotted shoveling sidewalks, helping crews flag traffic, and much more. “I want to be more than a meeting mayor,” he told the Times West Virginian in 2023. “We need people who actually want to do something.”
