FOUNDED IN SPRING 2019, New River ATV provides a unique opportunity to visitors to the region. Located between Oak Hill and Fayetteville, this outdoor adventure company offers a range of tours through the New River Gorge area on its guests’ choice of ATVs, UTVs, and motorcycles. Some of the most popular tour options, the ATV Adventure Tour, Side by Side Family Tour, and the Nature Tours, showcase a few of West Virginia’s best features.
Explore miles of trails on the ATV Adventure Tour—the employee favorite—with family or friends or for special occasions. Bachelor and bachelorette parties often celebrate in this way, according to New River ATV owner Brandon Shaw. The Side by Side Family Tour makes for a fun outing with the whole family—just make sure to check the age requirements before you go. Try a Nature Tour, where you’ll be accompanied by a naturalist to learn more about the state and its wildlife. Shaw says, “The coolest thing I’ve seen riding here has been the wildlife—bears and the occasional rattlesnake.”
Although it may seem like a daunting activity, New River ATV Office Manager Sarah Lyons says guests don’t need to be intimidated. “There are over one hundred miles of trails that can be explored, and our tours are customized to the riders’ skill levels.” The company’s main goal is for visitors to have fun, and that means safety is a high priority. “We have good guides and a good team that knows what they are doing.”
These exciting and hospitable services are only one of the things that make this business stand out, though. Its close proximity to the nation’s newest national park is another. West Virginia is well-known for its majestic and breathtaking scenery, and the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve is some of the best of it. “I’ve ridden all over the country, and this is one of the best and most beautiful places to ride,” Shaw says.
