Heat oil in a large pot on medium heat.
Cook onion and garlic until soft. Add chili powder and oregano.
Add crushed tomatoes, broth, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and allow to simmer 5–10 minutes.
Add black beans, corn, hominy, chile peppers, cilantro, and cooked chicken. Simmer for 10 more minutes.
Serve topped with tortilla chips, cheese, and green onion to taste.
