Keeping a beat in the Mountain State
Music on the Mon River
More than 10 years ago, the Arts on the River festival was created to showcase musicians, performers, and visual artists in a family-friendly environment. Today, the festival has been newly branded Arts Alive, but the objective is the same. With several new sponsors, the festival on June 8 to 10, 2012, will expand its outreach, exposing guests to local talent through artists, musicians, fine food, wine, and beer.
Positioned along the picturesque Monongahela River at Hazel Ruby McQuain Riverfront Park and Amphitheater, Arts Alive has grown from a two-day event to three. Each day, an eclectic group of musicians will perform on one of two stages, mixing local favorites with renowned entertainers playing everything from bluegrass to soul. Keller Williams, Larry Keel, Zach Deputy, The Greens, The Boatmen, The Short Brothers, and so many more will fill the weekend with great live music.

Local brews and wine will be available for listeners to sip on while enjoying the Monongahela River view and taking in the tunes. After an ice cold lager, guests can pick up fine food from local favorite Richwood Grill. There will also be everything from burritos to sub sandwiches available from other area restaurants.
Beyond great music, food, and drinks, Arts Alive also showcases local talent from across the state. An artists’ market will be open, displaying and selling everything from paintings to jewelry, while some artists will do live demonstrations of arts like blacksmithing and pottery.
